Multigrain Porridge

       This recipe is for 8+ months old babies.You can get different types of porridge in market .They are made with thousands degree of temperature, so they almost lose their nutritional values. I m going to show you homemade porridge. It's best thing for a breakfast. First introduce this porridge in small quantity . If it's ok with baby's digestive system then you can give it on daily basis.
        This breakfast is high in digestive fiber and full of carbohydrate. It also contains nuts which are rich in energy, protein, omega-3, antioxidants, minerals and vitamins.


  • Ingredients:
        1 cup Rice
        1/2 cup Wheat
        1/4 cup Green gram (moong)
        1/8 cup Sago
         Fenugreek seeds
        1/2 tsp Saffron
        1/2 tsp Cardamom 
        1/4 cup Cashew nuts
        1/4 cup Almonds
        1/4 cup Pistachios 
        1/2 Nutmeg
        1 tsp Honey or jaggery 
         Milk

  • Preparation:
  1. Dry roast rice, wheat, green gram and sago in a heavy bottom pan separately.
  2. Roast it on low flame until it leaves aroma and changes the color.


  1. Dry roast cashew nuts, almonds, nutmeg and pistachio all together.
  2. Roast it until it becomes golden brown.
  3. Let it cool down.


  1. Grind  nuts with saffron , a pinch of fenugreek seeds and cardamom.
  2. Grind roasted grains and mix it with dried fruit powder.
  3. Grind it in coarse powder.
  4. Store and freeze this porridge in an airtight container.



  • Method:
  1. Take 1 tbsp of porridge.
  2. Cook it with 2 tbsp water in a heavy bottom pan or pressure cooker. 
  3. Cook it for 10 mins on low flame.
  4. When porridge is done then add warm milk to set consistency.
  5. Add honey or jaggery.
  6. Porridge is ready to serve.


  • Note:
         Fenugreek seeds are useful for digestion.
         Don't add nuts if baby is allergic to nuts.

Sago Delight

      This recipe is for 10+ babies. This dish is full of carbohydrate. You can enjoy this dish for a dessert . It's so easy to make and yet yummy.


  • Ingredients:
          1 tbsp Sago
          1 tbsp Rice flakes 
          1 tbsp Rice
          2 cup Milk
          2 tbsp Sugar or honey
          Dried Fruit powder
          Saffron
  • Method:
  1. Soak sago (sabudana) and rice flakes (poha)in water for 1 hour.
  2. Cook rice.
  3. Boil milk in a heavy bottom pan and add sugar.
  4. Add dried fruit powder and a pinch of saffron.
  5. Add rice , rice flakes and sago into boiling milk.
  6. Cook it for 10 mins on low flame.
  7. Serve it warm or chilled.


  • Note:
          Sago is good for quick boost of energy.

Wheat Khichdi

      This recipe is for 10+ months old babies. If baby doesn't eat roti or chapati then this is a best replacement. This is a heavy meal and it contains lots of digestive fibers and protein.



  • Ingredients:
          Broken wheat 1 tbsp
          Split moong daal 1 tbsp
         1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
         Asafoetida
         Ghee
  • Method:
  1. Wash broken wheat and daal.
  2. Mix and Soak them in double water for 15 mins.
  3. Soak it into hot water and use the same water to cook.
  4. Add pinch of  asafoetida ,turmeric powder and salt to taste. 
  5. Cook it on low flame for 15 mins.
  6. Add half a tsp of ghee or butter.
  7. Serve warm.


  • Note:
       You can add any veges of your choice.

Spinach with Broken Wheat

        This recipe is fore 8+ months old babies. Broken wheat is full of dietary fibers and also has high level of vitamin E , B vitamins and some antioxidants too. Spinach contains omega-3, fatty acids, loaded with flavonoids, iron and  it's protective against eye disease. So this combo can make a power food.


  • Ingredients:
         2 tbsp Broken wheat
         5 Spinach leaves
         1/2 Carrot
         Black pepper powder


  • Method:
  1. Wash broken wheat and veges .
  2. Chop carrot and spinach finely.
  3. Soak broken wheat in 1/2 cup of hot water for 15 mins.
  4. Don't discard the water.
  5. Add a pinch of black pepper powder and salt to taste.
  6. Cook broken wheat and veges together on low flame
  7. Cook it for 15 mins or until it become soft in texture.
  8. Serve it with fresh homemade curd.



  • Note:
          You can add potatoes , peas , beans or any veges of your baby's choice.

Finger Miillet Thick Soup

      This recipe is for 6+ months old babies.  Ragi or finger millet is full of calcium. you can have it any time of the day.This is a mildly sweet soup and it's best for winter times.


  • Ingredients:
          1 tbsp Millet(ragi) flour
          1 tsp Butter or ghee
          1 tbsp jaggery
          1/4 tsp tea masala(optional)
          1 cup water

  • Method:
  1. Heat butter in a pan and roast ragi flour for 1 min.
  2. Meanwhile heat 1 cup of water in another bowl and add jaggery to it.
  3. Turn off the flame when jaggery is dissolved.
  4. Add pinch of tea masala.
  5. Slow down the flame of pan and add this jaggery water to ragi flour.
  6. Boil it for 10 mins.
  7. Soup is ready to serve.

  • Note:
          If you don't prefer sweet taste  then you can use salt and black pepper instead of
          jaggery .
          You can use any flour of your choice.

Sprouts Khichdi

        This recipe is for 1+ year old babies. Green gram (moong) have fresh flavor and nutrients. It contains protein ,vitamin B1, B2 and vitamin C. It is also reach in calcium and iron. You can use any sprout for khichdi. Sprouts are the power food.



  • Ingredients:
         1/2 cup Sprouts
         2 tbsp Rice
         1/2 tsp Ghee or butter
         1 tsp Onion (finely chopped)
         Turmeric powder

  • Method:
  1. Wash rise two times and mix it with sprouts.
  2. Heat ghee in a pan and stir fry onions.
  3. Add rice and sprouts.
  4. Add a pinch of turmeric powder and salt to taste.
  5. Pour 1 cup of water to it.
  6. Cook it for 15 mins on low flame.
  7. Serve warm.

Rice Cereal

        You can give this dish for a first food. It's easy to digest and healthy meal.

  • Ingredients:
          1 cup Rice
           Milk

  • Preparation:
  1. Dry roast rice in a heavy bottom pan.
  2. Turn of the flame when rice change the color and leave aroma.
  3. Let it cool down.
  4. Grind it in to coarse powder.
  5. Store and freeze it in air tight container.

  • Method:
  1. Heat 1 1/2 cup of water in a pan.
  2. Add  2 tbsp of rice powder.
  3. Cook it for 10 mins on slow flame.
  4. Turn of the flame when cereal gets thick consistency.
  5. Add milk to get smooth consistency.
  6. Use fresh curd instead of milk if baby is not allergic to curd.

Biscuit Pudding

         This recipe is for 7+ months babies. Most of the babies like to chew biscuits.Baby can enjoy taste of pudding for a dessert.

  • Ingredients:
           1/2 cup Banana (finely chopped)
           1/2 cup Apple (finely chopped)
           1  1/2 tsp Jaggery
           1/2 tsp Butter
           1 Digestive biscuit

  • Method:
  1. Peel apple and banana.
  2. Take butter in a pan.
  3. Add finely chopped apple and banana to it.
  4. Cook  until it becomes tender.
  5. Add jaggery and cook it for 2 mins.
  6. Add crumbled biscuit and mix it together.
  7. Serve warm.


  • Note:
          You can take any fruit of your choice.

Veg. Khichdi

      Here is another easy to digest and stomach full filling recipe.It's best when baby is down with a fever or stomach ache. you can also use it for a daily meal.



  • Ingredients:
           2 tbsp  Moong daal (or green moong daal)
           2 tbsp  Rice
           1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
           1/2 tsp Black pepper powder
           Mix vegetables(finely chopped)
           1/2 tsp Ghee


  • Method:
  1. Mix daal and rice.Rinse twice.
  2. Soak it into  1 1/2 cup of hot water for 15 mins. 
  3. Don't discard the water.
  4. Take ghee in heavy bottom pan or cooker.
  5. Stir fry vegs.(carrot, potato and peas).
  6. Add salt to taste and black pepper powder.
  7. Add daal and rice. 
  8. Cook it on low flame for 15 mins.
  9. Mesh it roughly when khichdi is done.
  10. Serve Warm.

  • Note:
         Serve khichdi with fresh curd.

Upma

               This recipe is for 7+ months old babies. Suji or Semolina is main ingredient of upma. Semolina is higher in Carbohydrate and dietary fibers so it's easy to digest for baby. It also contains small amount of protein and iron.


  • Ingredients:
          2 tsp  Semolina
          1/2 tsp  Butter or ghee
          1/2 cup water
          Black pepper powder
          1 tbsp Fresh curd  
          Boiled veges.(finely chopped)
          Coriander leaves.

  • Method:
  1. Take butter in a pan and roast semolina on low flame.
  2. Meanwhile boil water in another bowl and keep it aside.
  3. Slow down the flame when semolina starts to change the color from white to pink.
  4. Add hot water to semolina. 
  5. Add pinch of black pepper and salt to taste.
  6. Add boiled veges of your choice like carrots ,peas and potatoes.
  7. Cook semolina until it becomes thick and in dropping concistancy . 
  8. Mix it with fresh curd and turn off the flame.
  9. Garnish with coriander.


  • Note: 
          Serve this thing for a breakfast .
          Use fresh curd.it will enhance the flavor and nutritional value.

Clear soup

                     You can take any pulse to make a clear soup like toor dal, mung dal, masoor dal.
 Protein,  Carbohydrate ,Calcium and iron are nutritional value of pulses.




  • Ingredients:
          2 tbsp toor dal
          Turmeric powder
          Lemon juice
          1/2 tsp Jaggery

  • Method:
  1. Wash toor dal twice and soak it in to hot water for 15 mins.
  2. Add pinch of turmeric powder and salt to taste.
  3. Pressure cook the dal for 10 mins on low flame.
  4. When dal is done strain the water from dal .
  5. Add some lemon juice and jaggery.                                                                                                   
  6.  Reheat the soup for 2 mins.
  7. Now soup is ready to serve. 

  • Note: 
           Few coriander leaves will enhance the taste.
           Turmeric powder is a medicine for cold.

Apple Sauce


       This recipe is for 6-8 months old babies .Apple is rich in dietary fiber, antioxidant,  vitamin c, b-complex and most of the babies like flavor of apple.


  • Ingredients:
          1 apple
          1/2 tsp jaggery


  • Method:
  1. Rinse the apple properly and cut in to slices.
  2. Boil 1/2 cup of water in a pan and add apple slices.
  3. Cook until it becomes soft and gets light brown color.
  4. you can also pressure cook for 10 mins.
  5. Peel the apple slice and give a blend with jaggery.
  6. Serve it warm.

  • Note:   Use jaggery instead of sugar. Jaggery is full of  iron.

Banana Puree

Banana was the first food for my baby.He loved it and its his all time favorite. I introduced solid food at 5.5 months.

          Ingredients:

          Small  banana
          Milk         
                 
           Method:
  1.   Mash banana by fork or blender.
  2.   Make a smooth paste of banana.
  3.   Add milk to adjust consistency.
  4.   Banana puree is ready to serve.


Note: No need to add sugar or sweetener .
           Banana is a perfect remedy for diarrhea.
